Brigadier General Humberto Pabon Jr.

Brig. Gen. Humberto Pabon Jr. is Chief of Staff, Joint Forces Headquarters – Air, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. As Chief of Staff, he assists the commander of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard on the training, operations, and readiness of over 1,100 bilingual Airmen on Contingency Response, Combat Communications, Air Advisors, and Host Nation Riders missions in support of federal and state missions.

Brig. Gen. Pabon received his commission through the Academy of Military Science in 1998. In 2000, he graduated specialized undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas. Brig. Gen. Pabon is a C-130 command pilot, and he flew combat missions in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with over 260 combat hours. Additional contingency experience in support of operation JOINT FORGE, Joint Task Force-Katrina, Senior Scout (Seminole Pavon), Shadow Harvest, CORONET OAK, and Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico. He has extensive operational experience in the Central and South America as well as the Caribbean region. General Pabon has experience in leading organizational and operational change in a wing as he was directly involved in the conversion of the Airlift Wing to a Wing. The general has held leadership positions at the squadron, group, wing, and joint forces headquarters level.

In his civilian job, the general is an airline pilot with a major U.S. cargo carrier as a B757/767 first officer. Before assuming his current position, General Pabon served as commander for the 156th Wing.
