As we all know Muñiz Air national guard base have a well kept basketball court but now that's no longer true because now it looks even better, thanks to a great initiative and dedication of a small group of voluntaries. This small group organized themselves and took the "What ever it takes Make it happen' to go the extra mile.

It took them 3 days within their off time to perform their task even they went farther and asked their supervisors for some in-duty time. Their supervisor seen the initiatives didn't hesitate to disapproved their request. Coordination were from Base Civil Engineering who gave them all the equipment and material necessary for this task, this include paint, pressure washer, paint brushes etc, Metal Shop orientated them on rust prevention and they add some local fund collected from the same b-ball court users to buy a good quality nets. These great airmen, washed the entire b-ball court, painted all important areas like, "center court" and others. B-ball rim and backboard were give corrosion control and re-painted.

156AW Command Chief Hector Mejia saw that accomplishment and commented " This type of voluntary work must be commended. This is a project that many Airmen were looking forward to be done. It maintains the morale high and is another way to keep the force fit "; in a email to Chief Mejia, 156AW Wing Commander Col Carlos Quinones said "my Personal Congratulations to all the personnel involved in this Self Help project. Their Pro-Active, Whatever it Takes, Make it Happen Attitude serves as an "Outstanding" Example for others to follow across the Wing. Keep up the Excellent work!!".
